The Importance of Regular Appliance Maintenance.
It’s easy to forget about the little things when it comes to appliance maintenance but a little TLC can go a long way towards ensuring your kitchen appliances last longer and perform at their best. Whether it’s your oven, fridge, cooktop, or dishwasher, here are some simple steps you can take to keep everything running smoothly.
Fridge Maintenance.
For your fridge, make sure the door seals are in good condition to prevent cold air from escaping. Also, make sure there are gaps all around the exterior of the fridge, that’s top, sides and even between the back of the fridge and the wall it has been placed up against. This is to allow adequate air movement and thus prevent overheating. If there are no gaps available on the sides, at least keep the top clear by not putting items on there that may restrict heat rising from the condenser at the back of the fridge, up and out at the top.
If possible, it is a good idea to clean the condenser and coils every few months to ensure it doesn’t overheat and thus runs efficiently. For older fridges that are not auto defrost models, this is also a good time to manually defrost your fridge and empty the water collection tray which you will find in the vicinity of the condenser.
